Aotearoa/New
Zealand is a lovely country to live in.
The world as we see it:
"
Since the time of the Ancients, maps were conventionally drawn with the stars
/ heavens above and the unknown below . Following this convention the Southern
Hemisphere correctly should be placed at the top of maps because it is the
South that faces towards the center of the galaxy. The Milky Way, that dense
cloud of stars, smeared majestically across our Southern skies."
The Maori named this land Aotearoa, Land of the Long White Cloud and this
for me is the name for this beautiful country.
Despite the fact we have a government who, like most governments, make up
silly rules and never create long term solutions to problems... this is still
a relatively peaceful and safe place to live.
I am very proud to live in the Nuclear Free Pacific, and one of my greatest
wishes is that the
French would GET OUT OF
THE PACIFIC.

…another New
Zealander whom I greatly admire: “My vision is of a larger world. A place
where the gentleness and courage of the peaceful way has the power to stand
against any tide”. Barry Brailsford MBE:

| The
Kiwi is a funny little native bird that us New Zealanders have adopted
as part of our sense of identity. We tend to call ourselves 'Kiwis', giving
our people a united identity. The actual Kiwis are nearly all gone, but they hang in there despite all the horrible things humans have done to destroy the country side in which they would roam. I wonder if the human Kiwis will travel the same road some day, with their laid-back, rural, clean, green, way of life destroyed by capitalism and industrialisation? The kiwi is an image/icon with which all New Zealanders can identify and be proud. |
