I have been searching a long time for the right
words to put here. I guess I have
to say straight off that I hate labels. My beliefs are hard to put into words
-
because my beliefs are in my heart, my head, my blood. Therefore when I use
the
English language to relate these thoughts, so much is lost in the translation.
Using words means that immediately everything I say become subjective to your
understanding of these words based on your knowledge and life history.
However, I will try throwing together some thoughts and see how I go...
You could call me an eclectic pagan who follows the path of Druidry.
You could call me a Druid.
I study and build my understanding of the ways of the ancient celts (around
300BC to 50ad). I believe their ways were closer to the natural order of the
Earth and the Living Planet than those observed now in modern times. They
represent to me a way of life which keeps us focussed on the reality of this
life, to celebrate the very simple/magickal world in which we live, and to
comprehend our place in this universe. I believe that we have access to the
knowledge that vibrates throught ALL.
Rather than compile a set of rules or definitions, I placed on the previous
page some links which will allow you to read and draw your own thoughts
and conclusions, just as I have done myself. As you will read later, I truly
believe that there is no right or wrong way to be. That a belief and a faith,
built on love and openness is good. That our lives are lived in our own hearts
and minds, are subjective to ourselves. Therefore what you believe is to be
treasured, not defended. I know what I believe, and I know why. My true and
close dear friends also understand much of this. But to put it in writing
- this is hard and the work of a great wordsmith to allow many different people
to understand what I am trying to say.
My belief stems from the Earth. I believe in things that make sense to me,
that feel right. But I also go with the feeling I get - like a physical or
mental recognition of, or reaction to things. This feeling is my way of following
the right path, you truly know when you are not on the right path, and you
get the most wonderful indications when you are.
I look around me at the physical reality of the Earth. The full moon makes
me look up, to feel vitalised and full of energy. Being in the forest makes
me soulful, reflective and also makes me listen - sometimes to dance. The
ocean makes me sing, write and heals me with its soothing ever-changing nature.
Here I find peace, order, and an understanding of our world. From all that
I see around me I draw my beliefs.
I do not disbelieve or seek to challenge any other belief systems or religions.
I simply say that each one is part of the whole. To visualise this concept,
think of the yin/yang sign. We see around us countless examples of how each
whole is made up of opposite and equal halves.
I have studied and found commonalities in many faiths over the entire history
of mankind as available to my brain to absorb.
I choose Druidry for its Earth Wisdom. For its message on the way to live
and for its beliefs in the Earth and the Magick contained therein. I believe
totally in the concept of being part of the whole - we are all and all. We
go back and we come from. The cycle of life is a complete one, not one that
begins and ends suddenly in eternal darkness without any reason for ever having
been in the first place. Life is simple, orderly and chaotic. Just look into
nature and you will see where I found this belief. Look and seek to understand
the length of time it takes to (for example) flood a land mass and then for
new life to grow. Time, order, chaos, life, death, life. There are patterns
and cycles which I seek to understand. I also believe in a concept of lifetimes
which goes beyond the definition commonly held of 'life' being this one physical
reality on this one place in time. I believe in the spirit - the mind and
that at some stage I will choose to no longer remain here. Hopefully I will
have learned what I needed to learn. I believe I am a conscious and spritual
being on a journey.
I believe that all of reality is subjective. That anything can and does exist
if you will it to be so. But the degrees vary. I believe that it all happens
in the mind,
I believe in love and light.
And I believe that we all can be whatever it is that we wish to be. We just
have to believe it. I believe that at any given point in time you can say
- "I wish for this to be so - I will it, I truly believe that this is the
right thing to happen and that it shall be so". Within this, it is also necessary
to accept the outcomes of life, and to learn the lesson offered to us. Sometimes
this means accepting a turn in the path that we did not will, trusting that
the universe is unfolding as it should.
I believe in magick.
